Graduate of BSc (Hons) Acupuncture, 2021
Why did you choose this course and why Lincoln College?
Following a meeting and facilities tour before the course commenced with Professor Meng, I was confident this was the course for me. All the questions I had were addressed to my satisfaction. For example, I initially had reservations with being a mature student and the reality of being able to continue with my work to support myself, after a discussion during my orientation meeting, it became clear it is and was possible in addition to the commitment required to the course from me. I live out of the Lincoln area therefore good travel links were equally important for me, on occasions I used the train, although driving was also great, with many parking options in the area.
I was impressed with the on-site Clinic facilities Lincoln College has, that would support me with the practical side of the course. In hindsight, I made the right choice, the Team at Lincoln College were extremely professional and caring, this was equally demonstrated when Covid-19 grounded the country to a standstill, care was taken to ensure our learning and welfare were maintained to a high standard. I believe this intervention was integral to us all being able to graduate on time, a great effort and example of how solution oriented the team are.
What did you enjoy most about your course?
The rich content provided in the lectures and knowledge the team shared complimented the joy of learning this wonderful practice.
The teachers supported my learning, and nurtured my skills and unique style to learn, enquire, and professional represent the theory and practice learnt.
The faculty team supported me to cultivate the tools to become successful, from research, rationale and superb practical clinical techniques taught. Encouraging me to question both theory and phenomena. I felt nurtured and guided to be the best of my ability.
What advice would you give to someone else looking at studying the same course?
Don’t allow the challenge of time deter you from doing a course you would like to. I committed to the course, along with being able to work. This was one of my concerns, of course being organised is important. However, doing both was possible for me and can be for you.
Enjoy the journey of learning such fantastic skills and meeting awesome people.
Where has your degree taken you?
I have had the confidence and skill to further my studies with a post graduate course. In addition, I've co-authored a book about the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of post-Covid-19 Syndrome. This is just the beginning of a successful career doing what I love - I feel very lucky.
