A Lincoln College Acupuncture lecturer has published a new book that will benefit the understanding and practice of acupuncture practitioners and students globally.
Fanyi Meng, Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) Acupuncture degree course at Lincoln College University Centre, has co-authored the book which details how to treat conditions caused by long Covid with Chinese medicine, including acupuncture and herbal medicine.
The book, titled Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Treatment of Post COVID-19 Syndrome, explores Fanyi’s particular interest is the use of acupuncture and herbs together to help patients – with clinical practice demonstrating great potential.
Fanyi said: “I have seen so many people suffering from the aftermath of Covid. Although it is not life threatening, it can make someone’s life a misery.
“My colleagues and I have been treating such patients since late 2020 and our traditional Chinese medicine’s holistic approach shows great clinical improvement.
“We are glad that the experience is shared in the book and hope this could provide an alternative solution to address the problem suffered by millions.”
Kerry Webster, who graduated from the three-year Acupuncture degree at Lincoln College in 2021, is also a co-author of the book. She added: “Studying a degree at Lincoln College certainly prepared me to work at a higher level after graduating.
“Foremostly, I was taught very well by my tutors and given a very comprehensive understanding of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, which meant when I finished my studies, I was confident in my subject and equipped and prepared to be involved in co-authoring a book.
“The process and knowledge gained provided me an academic understanding and enabled me to translate my practical knowledge into the academic language required to work on the project. My dissertation provided an excellent foundation because it taught me to think and speak like an author – providing me with the required skills to effectively communicate a subject matter.”
