We are delighted to celebrate the achievement of BSc (Hons) Acupuncture student Iram Hussain, who was selected by the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) to attend and present at the UK Conference of Chinese Medicine 2026, held on 6–7 June in Milton Keynes.

Iram was chosen to represent the College through a poster presentation showcasing her systematic review research project:

"Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis (Hay Fever): Can Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Relieve the Symptoms of Hay Fever Compared with Sham Acupuncture and Conventional Treatments?"

The research forms part of Iram's studies towards her BSc (Hons) Acupuncture degree and explores the evidence surrounding Traditional Chinese Medicine as a treatment option for seasonal allergic rhinitis, commonly known as hay fever.

The conference, jointly organised by the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) and the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine (RCHM), brought together practitioners, researchers, educators and students from across the UK to share knowledge and advances in Chinese Medicine.

Founded in 1995, the British Acupuncture Council is the UK's leading professional body for traditional acupuncturists. Recognised by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA), the BAcC maintains the highest standards of education, professional conduct and safe practice across the profession.

Reflecting on her experience, Iram said:

"I am delighted to say that it was a thoroughly engaging experience and one which I will continue to attend annually."

The College is immensely proud of Iram's achievement and her contribution to the growing body of research within Chinese Medicine and acupuncture. Her selection to present at a national professional conference demonstrates both her commitment to academic excellence and the high standard of research being undertaken by our students.
